It is a good feeling to get constant reminder that our partner loves us and we cannot really get too much confirmation about their feelings for us. But saying and hearing ‘I love you’ too often may lose its meaning as it becomes a mere habit. It is more important to back up what we say with the actual gestures and behaviors that show our partner we love them rather than keep chanting the words mindlessly.
Here are some ways you can do to show your partner you love them without actually saying the words:
1. Be there for them and listen to what they have to say. People need someone to go to when they have problems or simply need a place to pour out their feelings. Who would be a better person for that than their own partner? Show interest to what they say and offer suitable advice to them. If you cannot give any suggestion, at least make them feel they are not alone.
2. Be reliable even on the small things. If you say you will clear the trash every evening, do so. It is important to your partner to know that you are putting your full commitment into the relationship from the smallest aspects of it.
3. Don’t be judgmental and avoid sarcastic comments. Sometimes there are things about your partner that you wish could be different. They may be too fat, too lazy, too careless to name a few. They may have some bad habits that annoy you. Use subtle ways to cross your message to them. Being too blatant about those would be perceived as rude and likely to cause a quarrel rather than changing them. Saying it in gentle way will not only increase your chance of changing them, but also make them feel your love. For example you can say that if they can get rid of just a few pounds, they would look gorgeous in the dress on the shop display. Be sincere though as if you fake it, they will know it and it won’t do you any good.
4. Spend quality time together. It is not limited to bedroom activities. Go out and have some outdoor fun for example. Share a good movie or do some traveling on weekends. Have a nice dinner in your favorite restaurants once in a while. Have a good laugh together.
5. Love and care for your children. It may sounds not connected, but when you show that you love and care about your children, your image as THE family man will be better in your partner’s eyes. It implies that you love them as well. Playing with children as a whole family not only makes the children happy, but also brings the parents closer together.
